Presentation types
On the “Presentation types” page you define which presentation formats (e.g. oral presentation, poster, workshop) submitters can choose for their abstract. You can create, rename, sort and group presentation types, and control which user group a type is visible to.

Overview
The table lists all presentation types of the project in the same order in which they appear in the submission form:
Name (and Name EN in bilingual projects): the name of the type.
Abbreviation: a short form, e.g. “O” for oral presentation.
Visibility: which user group the type is available to.
Actions: pencil icon to edit, trash icon to delete.

Create a presentation type
1. Open the form: Click “+ Create new”.

2. Fill in the fields: Complete the required fields (marked with *).
Name: internal name of the type. It appears in the review module, e.g. in abstract lists, filters and statistics.
Name Label: the name submitters see in the submission form. You can use a more descriptive wording here, e.g. “Oral presentation (15 minutes)”.
Name EN / Name Label EN: English versions of both fields. These fields only appear in bilingual projects, where they are required as well.
Abbreviation: short form of the type. In the review module it is shown in front of the name, e.g. “O - Oral presentation”.
Visibility: see Set the visibility. The default is “For all”.

3. Save: Click “Save”. The new type is added at the end of the list.
Note: The “Save” button only becomes active once all required fields are filled in.
Edit a presentation type
1. Open the form: Click the pencil icon in the row of the type.

2. Make your changes: Adjust the fields as needed.
3. Save: Click “Save”. Click “Cancel” to discard your changes.
Note: Changed names also apply to abstracts already assigned to this type. Once abstracts have been submitted, avoid changing the meaning of a type fundamentally.
Change the order
The order in the table is the order in the submission form.
1. Grab the entry: Click the handle (=) on the left of the row and hold down the mouse button.
2. Move it: Drag the entry to the desired position and release the mouse button.

The new order is saved automatically right away.
Group presentation types
You can assign presentation types to a parent type, e.g. “Short talk” and “Long talk” under “Oral presentation”. Up to three levels are possible.

To do this, drag an entry by its handle (=) slightly indented to the right below the desired parent type. Child types are shown indented in the table. To move a type back to the top level, drag it back into the main list.
As soon as you drag an entry, a grey area appears below every type without child types. Drop the entry there to place it under that type. The row highlighted in blue shows where the entry will land.

Set the visibility
Use the “Visibility” field in the edit form to control which user group can select a presentation type.

For all: the type is available to submitters, reviewers and coordinators.
For coordinators only: only coordinators see the type, e.g. for assigning it later on. Submitters and reviewers do not see it.
For all but reviewers: submitters and coordinators can select the type, reviewers cannot.
For reviewers and coordinators: the type does not appear in the submission form, but reviewers can recommend it in their review and coordinators can assign it.
Delete a presentation type
1. Select delete: Click the trash icon in the row of the type.
2. Confirm: Confirm the prompt with “Delete”.

Attention: If the trash icon is greyed out, the type cannot be deleted. This is the case
if the type is already assigned to abstracts,
if the type contains child types,
if it is the last remaining presentation type (at least one type is always required).

Hover over the icon to see the exact reason. If a type contains child types, move or delete them first.
Tip: If a type that is already in use should no longer be offered for new submissions, set its visibility to “For coordinators only”.
